Certified DJs Mission
Our mission is two-fold; first, to help the consumer find good professional entertainment so they don't have to rely on non qualified'sources for their needs.
Second, to qualify Disc Jockeys to make sure they are capable of providing the public with quality entertainment. To provide them with job opportunities, information and training, then to back them up to "supply" support in times of need.
Disc Jockeys and MCs
We have DJ's that'specialize in literally every type of music from country, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Disco, and Clubs. No Show is too big or'small. From a 50-person reception to a 2,500 (or more) person dance, corporate function or rave our DJ's offer lighting and'special effects, props and costumes, party motivating games and theme party'supplies and other assorted activities.
Pricing
First, we are not a union. We do not set prices. All DJ's are not created equal. Each DJ sets their own price according to experience, equipment, specialties, and your specific needs. This means we have DJ's to suit your budget and get a professional show.
Just keep in mind that you wouldn't work at the same job for ten years without a raise, so don't expect a DJ to. Naturally a DJ who has been in business for 20 years will charge more than one who's only been around for two or three. Although we do our best to work with your budget, we are not trying to be the lowest priced DJs in town. According to recent polls, of DJ's across the U.S., the average price for a DJ is $200 to $300 per hour.
Why DJ's instead of live bands-12 reasons
1. DJ's are less expensive. You could easily spend $2500 and up on a reputable band that regularly plays receptions, while the average price for a DJ is $800 to $1200 (depending on your area). You can always find lower priced DJs and higher priced. We base this on a "National" average.
2. DJ's don't take breaks. You will always have music on during your reception.
3. If a band doesn't have a female singer or brass, look at all the songs they can't do properly.
4. DJ's act as coordinators. We usually set the pace of your event and we coordinate with the caterer, photographer, hall, and videographer, to make you event run smoothly.
5. We take up less space. You in turn have more room for a dance floor.
6. Repertoire. We are unlimited in the type of music that we play. From big band, jazz, ethnic all genres of music. If it's been recorded a DJ can play it. Most DJs carry thousands of tunes to choose from. Yet if a band knows 300'songs that's considered a lot.
7. Actual artists. Like Barry White? Can the band sound just like him? With a DJ, you don't have to worry about that. You always get the original version and often times DJs can offer a variety of versions to suit your taste.
8. Volume control. It's the number one complaint about bands. Djs can easily control volume.
9. Current music. A DJ has the capability of playing a song the day it comes out while the band has to practice it for weeks.
10. Reliability. If one band member gets sick, guess what? Possibly NO band. If your DJ can't perform, we will have a backup DJ to do your event.
11. It is customary to offer your entertainment a meal. With a band, there are at least 4 mouths to feed. At the high cost of meals this could add up to $200 to your expenses!
12. Personnel. From the time you hire a band to the date of your event, there may have been a few changes. A different lead singer or guitarist can dramatically change the'sound of your band. You could wind up with an entirely new band on your wedding day. And they wouldn't even have to tell you!
Support and Backup
By being a member of our'service, DJ's receive crucial backup of personnel and equipment in time or emergency. This gives our members and customer's a peace of mind. You don't have to worry about a "no show" that could ruin your special day. This is something an individual DJ cannot offer. We provide emergency DJ service to all DJ companies as a professional courtesy. We have provided this service since 1973 and we are usually the people that other DJ's call when they get in trouble.
When it comes down to it, not all DJ's are created equal. That is the reason why our prices vary from DJ to DJ. When you call us for a price quote, we instead find out your needs and wants for entertainment first. That way there are no additional charges later on. We want everything to run as smoothly as possible at your function. We make referrals to our members based on your budget and needs, location and type of function so all pricing will be discussed between you and the DJ. You always get direct contact with the exact DJ who will be doing your show.
Our goal is to assist you in your search for entertainment to save you time, energy, and frustration. With our vast network of DJ's, we will find a DJ close to the location of your function, and a specialist in your particular needs or music format, We assure you that your DJ will have proper sound equipment and will be within your budget. We will even go so far as to find a DJ with your personality needs.
What Is Certified DJ's?
Certified DJ's is a referral network of qualified and experienced entertainers who have pooled their resources to bring top quality entertainment to the public. Our goal for DJ's is to provide information, education, and support. It is not an elitist club. It is more of a brotherhood of some of the most professional DJ's in the DC Metro area.
Through our affiliation with various industry organizations, we strive to keep our DJ's informed of the latest equipment, innovations, and trends. We attend the majority of conventions across the country and we subscribe to the leading trade magazines in our industry. We also hold meetings and seminars, in order to stay informed of the latest issues, dances, music and novelties.
Certified DJ's is also the home of the DJ Training Center, the nation's first, independent training facility for DJ's. It offers a rigorous sixty-hour course that covers entertainment techniques, music programming and every aspect of the operation of a DJ business.
All of our entertainers must meet or exceed the standards of the American DJ Association or the Metropolitan Professional DJ Association. These are organizations that have set an industry accepted standard for professionalism for the DJ and Karaoke industries. Let's face it, being a DJ is a fun business. But it is just that, a business. Too many people are out there with nice HOME stereo equipment and personalized CD collection that "think" that they can be a DJ too. Anyone can run an advertisement, there's no qualification process. We verify that each of our prospective members own and operate their own professional "sound" system, and that they run their business in a proper, professional, and legal manner. Each one is capable of providing you with the service they say they can.
Our Karaoke Jocks (KJs) must also meet the "same professional standards" and meet the "same high" standards as our DJs.
We hope that for your future events you consider us for your entertainment needs. Remember, "don't hire a once in a while DJ for a once in a lifetime memory". We appreciate your business thank you.
Experience
The average years of experience of our participating DJs and KJs is about 9 years. Our DJs have performed at literally every type of function you can think of. No DJ will accept a function they don't personally feel they could handle or is qualified for. They will rather refer it to a more qualified and experienced DJ to assure proper handling of your event.
Other Information
When you hire Certified DJ's, we certify that we have personally checked them and their equipment out and that the job will be done right and that you will get what you ask for. None of our DJ's will accept a show they cannot handle. They will instead refer it to another of our DJ's better suited to your needs. We will also consult with you and gladly offer our assistance in any other aspect of your function that we can. As well as referrals to the other services you may need.
We differ from other DJ companies and agencies because when we do a referral, we put you directly in touch with the DJ who will be performing at your function before you sign the contract. After all, don't you want to know what you are getting before you buy it? If the DJ that we refer to you doesn't impress you enough to hire them, just let us know and we will choose another DJ to get in touch with you immediately.
Our Services
Karaoke: A great form of entertainment in it's own right. It is the perfect addition to your function or on it's own. No matter what type of function you are having be it a company picnic, birthday party, or even a wedding reception, we make you the star wherever you are. Karaoke has become so popular that people throw a party featuring only Karaoke.
Robotic Boxing: Remember the "Rock-em, Sock-em" robots? Well they are back and grown up for adults. These 3 ½ ft. tall metal robots become life-size when you put them into their own boxing ring! Strap yourself in and get physical in a real boxing match. A referee and a ring announcer (ring girls are optional) are provided to make it and action packed night of boxing. This high profile, almost addictive crowd pleaser was featured on MTV's Spring Break and has been a great audience participation activity over the past several years.
The Special Events Trailer: This 20 foot customized trailer has been specially designed and equipped to handle larger outdoor events. It houses one of the East Coast’s largest mobile "sound" systems. With state of the art equipment boasting 3600 watts of power and a 4 way super JBL "sound" system.
This trailer is perfect for company picnics, grand openings, radio station and other commercial promotions, county fairs, carnivals, charity functions, festivals, sporting events, car shows, schools and colleges or any outdoor function that requires sound for larger crowds.
Bad weather won't "stop this show". It has a large side door that opens for public viewing and request. Should it rain we just simply shut the door and keep on performing.
The unknowing, inexperienced DJ would love to do a show for a large crowd so they can get more exposure. But the truth of the matter is they are grossly underpowered to do them and don't offer any protection from the elements. Sound outdoors definitely needs to be reinforced to accommodate not just the size of the crowd but the sheer amount of acreage that needs to be covered. Sound outside has no walls to bounce or reflect off of and will therefore go up and dissipate rapidly. This 4-way system definitely packs a wallop so try it for your next outdoor or special event.
This system can be adapted to accommodate large "ARENA STYLE" indoor events as well!
